Position: Software engineer, Advanced medical imaging project development

We are a Seattle-based startup looking for a meticulous and technically skilled Software Engineer to develop and test data acquisition and image reconstruction software for a prototype Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner for improving treatments for breast cancer patients. This remote-work position is in support of a 2-year Small-Business-Interest Research project funded by the National Cancer Institute.
General duties will include:
1. collaborate with our science and engineering team to implement image reconstruction and data correction algorithms,
2. formulate an end-to-end architecture for the data stream,
3. designing and testing an overall framework for high-level system operation.
4. collaborate in the design and development of a user interface for system control, data acquisition, image processing and display, image analysis, and data management.
5. provide tech support in reviewing and updating existing data-analysis programs, identifying and fixing defects, and generating reports
Specific responsibilities and tasks:
• Coding and debugging.
• Editing source-code.
• Troubleshooting system errors.
• Writing documentation.
• Managing database systems.
• Maintaining operating systems.
• Profiling and analyzing algorithms.
• Implementing backup and build systems.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this role has superior coding skills, excellent communication skills and task management, superior problem solving and critical thinking skills, an aptitude for learning new technology, and is deadline driven. Remote work is an option for this position, but the ideal candidate will be available for project meetings during Pacific-Time business hours. Additional requirements include:
• Degree in Computer Science or Computer Programming, or substantial demonstrated expertise.
• Strong aptitude for math.
• Knowledge of operating systems.
• C++ and Python (experience with Julia, Java, C#, Matlab, and HTML preferred).
